Group Projects
Throughout my time at Pittsburg State, I participated in many group-led projects where my skills and knowledge were utilized in different areas. My various roles within these projects allowed me to not only learn from my fellow classmates but to also understand the importance of being surrounded by individuals who think differently than me. Below, I have showcased how my skills were contributed within just a couple group projects over my two & a half years spent at PSU.
The Lion King Analysis displays an audiences emotions, thoughts, and behaviors behind the film. My group and I pulled theories and factors including Cognitive Dissonance, Process and Cultural Premises, Rank’s Model of Intensifying and Downplaying, and Narrative Theory from "The Lion King" that apply or are evident from scenes in the movie. Applying these factors helped gain a better understanding of the message being conveyed.
For this project, my group and I observed and sat in on the PSU Communication Department meetings. During this process, we analyzed various effective group characteristics including, cohesiveness, structure, self-monitoring, norms, roles, and leadership. My role contributed to breaking down the ways the members of this department structured their meetings as well as the social dynamic of the group.
